           Type of circuit breaker

MCB

The full form of MCB is Miniature Circuit Breaker. It is a kind of electronic switch that functions automatically.

Why is MCB used?

The primary function of a miniature circuit-breaker is to protect the installation or equipment from continuous overloading and short-circuit faults, but it will also provide protection against earth faults, provided the earth fault loop impedance is low enough.

Mcb type :- 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A , 32A, 40A ,50A, 63A, 80A, 100A ,125A

ELCB

The correct option is A Earth leakage circuit breaker.  The full form of E.L.C.B is Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker.  It directly detects the current leakage and directs it from the circuit to earth and breaks the circuit.

What is ELCB used for?

Earth leakage circuit breaker is used in applications to prevent electric shock and electrical fire caused by short circuit or overload in the control panel, automatically shuts off when leakage is detected

RCCB

Full form of RCCB
Residual current circuit breaker - RCCB.

What is the use of RCCB?

Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) is an important safety measure when it comes to protecting electrical circuits.  It is a current sensing device, which can automatically measure and disconnect the circuit when there is a fault in the connected circuit or the current exceeds the rated sensitivity.

MCCB

MCCBs (Molded Case Circuit Breaker) are used in high energy requirement regions such as high-power equipment in industries or for commercial purposes.

ACB

Air Circuit Breakers (ACB)
Air circuit breaker is a circuit breaker for the purpose of protecting low voltage circuit, mainly for energizing and cutting off high current.

VCB

Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB)

Where is VCB used?

VCBs are mostly used in medium voltage applications such as for switching and protection of high voltage induction motors, secondary transmission substations etc.

What is OCB and VCB?

Therefore, according to system voltage and current, there are various types of circuit breakers available such as MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker), ACB (Air Circuit Breaker), OCB (Oil Circuit Breaker), VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breaker), SF6 Circuit Breaker, etc.

MOCB

Minimum Oil Circuit Breaker

What is the use mocb?

As the contacts are immersed in the oil, the arc energy increases the temperature of the oil. The oil surrounding the arc attains high temperatures and gets vaporized. Thus gases are produced and will expand inside the chamber so that pressure inside the chamber increases.

BOCB

bulk oil circuit breaker (BOCB)

What is the difference between Mocb and Bocb?

In BOCB, the interrupting unit is placed inside an oil tank of earth potential. Here oil is used as both insulating and interrupting medium. In MOCB on the other hand, the insulating oil requirement can be minimised by placing the interrupting units in an insulating chamber at the live potential on an insulator column.

SF6CB

Sulphur Hexafluoride (SF6) Circuit Breaker.

SF6 is a sulfur hexafluoride circuit breaker in which sulfur hexafluoride is used as the arc extinguishing medium. The sulfur hexafluoride gas attracts free electrons. As the circuit contacts are opened, the gas flows through the chamber striking the arc.
